Best Stag Party Playlist Ever
Forget slow dances and special songs. That stuff's for the wedding. On a stag party, you want a playlist that amps the boys for a weekend of mentalism.
So we're giving you a gift. The greatest stag party playlist ever. It's all here: the song you play in the limo, the drinking songs, the party songs - even the late-night singalong back at your accommodation. Gentlemen, prepare to take your ears on a journey of awesome.
'BACK IN BLACK' - AC/DC
The hardest-rocking song of all time, and the perfect track for the limo ride in from the airport, 'Back in Black' is the undisputed king of the stag party playlist. It's a no-brainer for track one. As soon as you hear that riff, you know you're on the road to an awesome weekend.
'LUST FOR LIFE' - IGGY POP
As John Cusack pointed out in High Fidelity, there's an art to making a playlist. 'You gotta kick it off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you gotta take it up a notch.' Wise words. So how do you beat the riffing-est might of AC/DC? With Iggy Pop's twisted hymn to drink, drugs and misbehaving. Hey - you're just a modern guy.
'THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN' - THIN LIZZY
The ultimate lads' anthem has been helping groups of awkward chaps bond since 1976. And it regularly appears on lists of greatest songs - greatest guitar anthem, greatest rock song, even plain greatest song (according to Rolling Stone magazine, which gave it 499 in a list of 500). We reckon it's just what you need when you walk into the first bar.
'CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL' - OASIS
Nuff said. You don't come on a stag party to hang about in health spas, swapping juice recipes. Doesn't really matter what Oasis track you stick on your iPhone, it'll make you drink. A lot.
'FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT' - BEASTIE BOYS
NYC's favourite white rappers were also a hardcore punk band who played all their own instruments. '(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)' shows off just how well MCA, Ad-Rock and Mike-D could handle a bunch of guitars and drums. It's also hands down the best song ever to encourage ludicrous stag party behaviour. Your pops caught you smokin' and he said no way? That hypocrite smokes two packs a day!
'YOU CAN DO IT' - ICE CUBE
Because at some point, every stag party needs to dance suggestively while pretending to be a hip-hop megastar. It's just the way it is. And no-one beats the Cube when it comes to the bounce. Cue a bunch of blokes having imaginary coitus while they bust out the air-mic. West side.
'RAPPER'S DELIGHT' - SUGARHILL GANG
Once you bust out the hip-hop, you can't stop. Everyone thinks they know the words to this one, and everyone fails after the first line. Plus it's nice and long, which gives the chaps a chance to wander off the dance floor, refresh their glasses and talk to girls.
'GHOST TOWN' - THE SPECIALS
Give a man a beer, he likes ska and 2-tone. Give a man a beer, a bar with room to move and The Specials' 'Ghost Town' blaring out of the soundsystem, and he'll turn into a nutty-boy dance machine. We blame Sean of the Dead.
'WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE' - GUNS N ROSES
Every stag party needs a triumphant finish. Ours kicks off with G n effin R's tribute to everything metropolitan. Welcome to the jungle, baby, we got fun and games. YEAH. Get back on the dance floor and strap on your air guitar!
'BORN SLIPPY' - UNDERWORLD
Once the tune that defined Ibiza, 'Born Slippy' still resonates with stag parties thanks to its inspired refrain. A demented Darren Emerson shouting 'Lager, lager, lager' over a grinding beat never fails to bring the boys back to life.
'SONG 2' - BLUR
It's short, it's noisy and it makes you jump and and down yelling 'woo-hoo!'. What's not to like?
'GIVE IT AWAY' - RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
Easily the best Chilis track, and the one guaranteed to get every middle-aged stag party attendee in the room up and dancing. It's worth it just to see dads trying to grind like Anthony Kiedis while they fail to keep up with the chorus.
'PRETTY FLY FOR A WHITE GUY' - THE OFFSPRING
Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco cinco seis... Any track with counting bits is ideal for the last 10 minutes of the stag party night. The lads are guaranteed to join in with a group holler as The Offspring count them into the chorus. Give it to me baby! Uh-huh, uh-huh...
'SHOTS' - LMFAO FEAT. LIL' JON
What do you do at the end of a massive night? That's right. LMFAO bring the beat back up for one final hit. 'If you not drunk ladies and gentlemen, get ready to get drunked up,' Lil' John announces. After that, it's all big bad basslines and 'shots, shots, shots.' How many was that? 77, apparently. Looks like it's all back to yours for post-club madness, then.
'THE FINAL COUNTDOWN' - EUROPE
The last word in hair-rocking is also the ideal wind-down for a stag party. Well, the club part of it anyway. Arms around shoulders chaps. If you can't speak by this stage of the evening, don't worry. You just have to sound like a drunken synthesiser. 'Da da daaah dah, da da dah-dah daaah.....'
'MY WAY' - FRANK SINATRA
And now the end is near, and so you face the final curtain - no, you're not dead. You just did too many Jaegerbombs. Fortunately, the lights are coming up and everyone's pretending to be ol' Blue Eyes. You're guaranteed to be belting out the chorus all the way home, so hang on to your neighbour and remember: you're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.
'WONDERWALL' - OASIS
You did it! You made it back to the apartment in one piece. The groom's crying quietly in a corner and everyone else is bonding over the only song a man can permit himself to sing outside of a nightclub. A capella or with guitar accompaniment, 'Wonderwall' is the stag party equivalent of drunkenly swearing to be best friends, evs. Love you, man.
So there you have it - the only stag party playlist you'll ever need. Rack 'em up and rock out. You're welcome!
Did we miss anything? We'd love to hear what you'll be playing on your stag!
