The Post Bank Holiday Weekend Round Up
Dude wins £279,830 because his train was delayed
Most of us hate travelling on Bank Holiday weekends. Millions of cars on the roads, trains delayed for hours thanks to 'essential works', the dreaded replacement bus service. But for one lucky chap, being stuck at London Victoria turned from holiday nightmare to massive score when he won nearly £280k on an accumulator bet!
The anonymous punter decided to sack off his travel hell for a while in the Ladbrokes close to the station, placing a 17-match footie wager that went right down to the wire before paying out. The last game in his bet was the PSG-Marseille cracker that saw the Paris team come from behind twice to win 3-2. Nice.
EE beats bad phone signals
Fed up of standing on one leg on an armchair, trying to get a decent mobile signal in your house? EE reckons it's got call-drop blues beat with a new WiFi service. If your EE signal goes down, the network will simply jump to WiFi without you having to do anything.
The bad news is, you only get the service if you've got the top handsets: Lumia 640, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Apple handsets will be connected in the next few weeks.
EE will text you when you're ready to use the service. No more ditching Monday morning calls from your boss because you're on the tube...
Best April Fool's brand hijack ever
Richard Branson loves a good prank. Not only did the hilarious entrepreneur use April Fool's Day to 'move' Virgin HQ to Branson, Missouri (releasing the news with limited edition 'Welcome to Branson, Branson'tees) - he also gave the go-ahead to this promo video for Virgin Australia.
I wonder how many people really believed in the 'Paw Door Access'...
