The Stagcom 12th October Round Up
Fast and Furious groom misses his own wedding. Lewis Hamilton wins at Sochi. The US Army is giving soldiers Ironman-style suits, and Cadbury is looking for a new Milk Tray man.
Fast and Furious Groom Misses Wedding
A groom missed his own wedding because he was arrested on his stag do. The entire stag party hired and raced a team of supercars including a Lamborghini Gallardo, two Audi R8s, and two AMG Mercedes through Manchester at 2am. The whole thing culminated in a Fast and Furious-style scene, with police chasing the guys for three miles. A witness told the Manchester Evening News that one of the Audis tried to reverse into a police car. Six were arrested, according to The Sun, and were released on bail at 10.30pm. However, the groom didn't get out of questioning in time to attend his own wedding. Ouch!
The stag party has been called 'the Fast and Furious Groom + 5 mates' by Greater Manchester Police. They tweeted: 'Stag do goes horribly wrong. Groom for wedding today +5 arrested after 1am fight turns into pursuit of Audi R8 and Lambo with cop car rammed.'
Lewis Hamilton Racing Towards F1 World Title
Hamilton won the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi on Saturday, taking him one step closer to becoming world champion. His teammate Nico Rosberg was originally in the lead but retired on lap seven with a throttle problem. Sebastian Vettel came second and is now Hamilton's closest rival for the grand title, although he's still 66 points behind the Brit. Sergio Perez took third place after a collision between Kimi Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas on the very last lap.
Hamilton now leads the pack by 66 points and there are only 100 more points up for grabs. This is his second successive win at Sochi, and a very special milestone, as he has now beaten Ayrton Senna's 41-win record.
'Guys, thank you so much for everything you do. I feel incredibly privileged to be part of this team. This is a special moment for me to surpass Ayrton. What a dream this is for me.' Hamilton, speaking after the race.
Sochi definitely had the most comedy moments this season. David Coulthard had a wet t-shirt moment, funny hats were everywhere, and Lewis Hamilton sprayed Vladimir Putin with champagne. See it all here.
Ironman-Style Suit for US Soldiers
According to LADbible, the US Army are producing an 'Ironman-style' suit for solders. The Tactical Light Operator Suit (TALOS) can apparently repel bullets, supply oxygen, and help the wear lift heavy objects. The liquid body armour moulds itself to the wearer when activated, and the whole thing costs a cool £52m. The US Army is reportedly aiming to have the suit ready to go by 2018. Read all about it.
