The Stagcom 19th September Round Up

We were excited about the weekend and it certainly didn't disappoint! Drama was high across a number of sports over the last couple of days and we managed to (just about) stay on top of it all.

So, if you happened to miss any of the action, allow us to fill in all the gaps for you in our weekend round up.

Problems for Mourinho

Ten days ago, everything was rosy for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. In his first four competitive matches in charge of United he had won the Community Shield, as well as his opening three league games; fast-forward to now and the pressure is on after three straight defeats.

The latest defeat came at Vicarage Road yesterday lunchtime as Watford beat United 3-1. The most worrying thing for United fans was the manner in which they saw their team crumble as Watford out-fought and out-thought their opponents.

The hosts had United on the back foot early on; Odion Ighalo missed an open goal and Troy Deeney forced a wonderful save from David de Gea. Etienne Capoue gave Watford a deserved lead shortly before half-time, after converting a pull-back from Daryl Janmaat.

United were back in the game on the hour mark when Marcus Rashford pounced on a loose ball, and at this point you would have expected Untied to kick on. That didn't happen and substitute Juan Zuniga put Watford 2-1 up just 50 seconds after coming onto the pitch.

United failed to muster an equaliser and Troy Deeney wrapped the game up with a penalty in stoppage time. United and Mourinho will now be under a lot of pressure when they host champions Leicester City on Saturday lunchtime.

Premier League Takes Shape

Just five games into the season and it looks as if the Premier League table is already beginning to take shape.

Manchester City sit at the top after making it five wins from five matches with a 4-0 hammering of Bournemouth on Saturday. Kevin De Bruyne was in scintillating form and the Belgian opened the scoring with a clever free-kick; Raheem Sterling and Kelechi Iheanacho grabbed a goal apiece before Ilkay Gundogan wrapped up the win with a goal on his Premier League debut.

Arsenal climbed into the top-four with an impressive 4-1 win at Hull City. Alexis Sanchez struck a brace - as well as missing a penalty - Theo Walcott and Granit Xhaka scored the other two goals to give the Gunners their third successive win in the league.

Great Britain Come Up Short

Despite a thrilling comeback from defending champions Great Britain, Argentina secured a 3-2 win to reach the final of the Davis Cup.

Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund lost their respective singles matches on Friday to leave Britain trailing 2-0 heading into the weekend; however a doubles victory on Saturday and a singles win from Murray on Sunday levelled the tie at 2-2 going into the deciding match.

Dan Evans won the first set against Leonardo Mayer to give Britain hope of completing an unlikely comeback, but the Argentine won the next three sets to seal victory.

Rosberg Regains Top Spot

Nico Rosberg regained the lead at the top of the championship ahead of Lewis Hamilton after a grand finale at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Rosberg held off a late charge by Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo in what was a thrilling climax; the German driver now leads Mercedes teammate Hamilton by eight points after he finished in third.

Brownlee Bromance

Finally, there was a sporting story that touched everyone's hearts to round off the weekend. Jonny Brownlee was looking dazed and was stumbling as he approached the finish line in the World Triathlon Series in Mexico, until his brother Alistair helped carry him over the line - shunning the opportunity to win himself!

Who says there is no loyalty in sport?
