The Stagcom 28th November Round Up
The final weekend before we enter December is over; and what a weekend it was! The title was decided in the Formula One, there were goals galore in the Premier League - it all happened.
Here we take you through everything that happened, in case you weren't able to keep up with it all.
Rosberg's Title
Nico Rosberg claimed his first Formula One world title despite Lewis Hamilton disobeying team orders not to back his teammate into other drivers.
Hamilton won the race, but with Rosberg finishing second, that was enough for Rosberg to claim the championship by five points; despite winning one fewer race during the season.
The race was surrounded by controversy after Hamilton slowed down at the front as he tried to bring other drives into the race and reduce Rosberg to a finish lower than third. The Mercedes team repeatedly asked Hamilton to speed up, but he ignored team orders as he tried to negotiate a way of winning the title.
Hamilton has now come in for much criticism, but wouldn't anyone try whatever it takes to win a world title?
As It Were
With all the teams in the top-four winning over the weekend, it remains tight at the top of the Premier League! Manchester City came from a goal behind against Burnley on Saturday lunchtime; Sergio Aguero grabbed both goals after Dean Marney had given the hosts an early lead.
Liverpool remain second after a win over Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. For long periods it looked as if David Moyes' side would frustrate Liverpool and claim an unlikely point. That was until deep into the second-half when Divock Origi cut in from the left hand side and curled in. James Milner added a penalty in injury time to make the result seem more comfortable.
Chelsea reclaimed top spot a couple of hours later, after beating Spurs 2-1 in the Saturday evening game. Christian Eriksen gave Spurs the lead with a stunning half-volley, but Chelsea soon equalised with a stunning goal of their own after Pedro curled in from distance. Victor Moses grabbed the winner early in the second-half after Diego Costa found him free at the back post.
Arsenal completed a full set of wins for the top-four Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth. Alexis Sanchez scored early on after a short back pass by Steve Cook, but the visitors soon levelled through a Callum Wilson penalty.
Sanchez hit the bar almost immediately after and it looked like things may end as a draw as the game wore on. Theo Walcott eased Arsenal nerves with a far post header; before Sanchez sealed the win in stoppage time.
All But Over
After three days of the third Test between India and England it is all but over. India posted a score of 417 all out to give themselves a 134 runs lead after the first innings.
For England to salvage anything from the match, it was going to require disciplined batting accompanied with some lengthy innings; but that just hasn't happened overnight in Mohali.
At the close of play this morning, England were 78-4, which means they are still trailing by 56 runs. With two days remaining of the Test it would almost be impossible for the tourists to bat it out, which means England will be looking at being 2-0 behind with two Tests remaining in the series.
Lucky 13
England recorded their 13th win on the bounce after defeating Argentina at Twickenham on Saturday. They were made to do it the hard way after Elliot Daly's red card less than five minutes in, meant that they had to play the majority of the match with 14 players.
Daly was dismissed after a tackle in mid-air, but the one man disadvantage didn't seem to effect England too badly as they took a 16-7 half-time lead following a penalty try and three Owen Farrell penalties.
A Jonny May try and a further penalty from Farrell secured victory for England, which was their 13th in a row and 12th successive win under Head Coach Eddie Jones. A win against Australia next Saturday would see England equal their longest winning streak that was set in 2003.
