Located in a sweet little spot on the Polish Baltic coast, this port city is where the Poles come to play in summer, which is surprisingly hot and sunny. If you want a change from the usual Spanish beach resorts, check out the Polish version of Cannes.
Choose a Gdansk stag weekend if you want to discover a hidden gem with an upmarket look and feel, great weather and gorgeous girls. Think classy bars and clubs in a buzzy Old Town, fantastic casinos, cosmopolitan street cafes and picture perfect beaches. Add colossal red brick churches, vivid amber shops and inviting beer gardens into the mix and you've got a fascinating destination ripe for exploration. As if all that wasn't enough, Gdansk has teamed up with sister towns Gdynia and Sopot to form TriCity, so you get a triple whammy of bars, clubs, restaurants, shops and attractions.
When to go
We recommend booking your trip to Gdansk during the summer months.
Nightlife
Vibrant and unpretentious, the TriCity nightlife scene is spot on. Beer and vodka are the tipples of choice for the city's locals, and the latter is pretty potent so be prepared for something of a shock when you knock 'em back! Don't leave without trying Danziger Goldwasser; a creamy, vodka-based liqueur with flecks of 22-carat gold.
A Gdansk stag night could see you hanging out at a riverside club, quaffing Guinness at an Irish pub located in the huge cellars of the Old Town Hall, or checking out a live gig at the retro cellar venue Yesterday, which features a huge neon portrait of Chairman Mao. At the clubs, expect to hear everything from house to hip hop and alot of 70s and 80s cheese. Don't be surprised to find yourself dad dancing to songs you know you really shouldn't! Cafe Absinthe is a must for high times and mad moments, and pretty much stays open 24hrs. For something more sophisticated, head for the appropriately named City of Angels and get acquainted with Gdansk's hottest girls.
If you don't fancy making decisions on the first night you're in the city, ask us about arranging a bar crawl and night club entry in advance. A local barfly will steer you towards TriCity's best venues, and the night comes to a close at a cracking club across the water.
Stuff to do during the day
You certainly won't be bored! Activities available to stag parties include: paintballing, quad biking, and boat hire. Nothing beats sailing on the Baltic coast in summer.
Getting there
We can advise you on exactly where to go to get the best deals on flights to Lech Walesa Airport (named after Poland's first post-communist president) from Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, London and Edinburgh.
